CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Dayne Beuker (Portland, Ore.) and JP Hurlbert (Allen, Texas) both scored and added an assist, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Dubuque Fighting Saints in a 3-2 loss this evening at ImOn Ice Arena.
The opening 20 ended in a stalemate as Luke Carrithers (Maple Grove, Minn.) stopped all 10 shots he faced.
The Fighting Saints struck first as a Dryden Allen rebound chance found its way to the back of the net 2:15 into the second period.
Hurlbert evened the score 8:04 into the period, accepting a perfectly placed stretch pass from Beuker on a semi-breakaway and fired over the glove of Liam Beerman.
Beuker made it a 2-1 contest 5:19 into the final frame with a wrist shot off a backdoor feed from Hurlbert on a 2-on-1.
Charlie Arend knotted the game at two apiece with a shot from the left circle 41 seconds later, then Michael Barron tipped one in from the slot to bring the final tally to 3-2.
