ADRIAN, Mich. - Jake Stuart (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) scored his first goal of the season and Jack Murtagh (East Greenbush, N.Y.) added two points, but the U.S. National Under-18 Team dropped a 5-3 contest to Adrian College this afternoon from Arrington Ice Arena.
Richard Gallant (Concord, Mass.) got the U.S. on the board early with a score just 1:56 in, set up by Murtagh and Drew Schock (Green Bay, Wis.).
Stuart made it a 2-0 game 3:25 into the middle frame, connecting with Landon Hafele (Fairbanks, Alaska) for the goal.
Murtagh added a third to the U.S. tally just over two minutes later, accepting a dish from Will Horcoff (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) for the score. Donny Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) picked up an assist as well.
Jacob Suede broke through to put Adrian on the board at the period's 12:38 mark, then Patrick Saini added a second with 1:18 left on the clock.
Bradley Somers found the equalizer for the Bulldogs with a power-play goal 5:14 into the final stanza, then Saini gave Adrian the lead with 6:51 to go. Ryder Nienhuis put the game on ice with 3:54 left in the game, bringing the final score to 5-3.
The U18s will take their first international break of the season as they head to Soběslav, Czechia for the 2024 Under-18 Five Nations Tournament. Play begins November 7, 2024 against Sweden with puck drop set for 8:30 a.m. ET from Zimni Stadion Tabor.
