ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Eight different U.S. skaters put up points to climb out of a 3-0 deficit, but the U.S. National Under-18 Team dropped a 5-4 overtime contest to the Michigan Wolverines tonight inside Yost Ice Arena.

The Wolverines poured on pressure to start the night, but Patrick Quinlan (Kennett Square, Pa.) was fantastic to start, making 11 stops in the opening 20.

Michigan commit Will Horcoff (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) had a great chance on a rebound off an initial shot by Will Belle (Minnetonka, Minn.) just before the period's end, but Michigan goaltender Andrew Albano made the stop.

NTDP alum Christian Humphreys (2022-24) broke through with 2:50 left in the first, scoring glove-side from the high slot.

TJ Hughes doubled their lead 12 seconds into the middle frame with a tally from an angle that bounced off the crossbar and in, then Hunter Hady added a third with a wrister from the left circle at the 7:44 mark.

Will Moore (Ithaca, N.Y.) got the U.S. on the board with a power-play goal just shy of the game's halfway point, beating Albano top shelf after future Wolverine Asher Barnett (Wilmette, Ill.) slid him the puck in the high slot. Fellow Michigan commit Cole McKinney (Lake Forest, Ill.) picked up an assist as well.

Lincoln Kuehne (West Fargo, N.D.) cut the Michigan lead to one just 1:36 into the final frame, scoring right off an offensive zone faceoff win by Horcoff from the top of the left circle.

Philippe Lapointe made it a 4-2 game with a lightning response off a rebound score.

Richard Gallant (Concord, Mass.) brought Team USA back within one at the period's 4:06 mark, walking into the zone and potting one from outside the paint off a semi-breakaway after Murtagh fed him the puck. Donny Bracco (Freeport, N.Y.) started the play in the U.S. zone.

Drew Schock (Green Bay, Wis.) knotted the game with a power-play score at 7:07. Moore picked the puck off the stick of a Michigan defender at the point and slid it across the zone to Schock, who ripped a one-timer for the equalizer to send the game to overtime.

Michigan headed to the power play 2:20 into extra time, and Michael Hage put the game on ice 26 seconds later to earn a 5-4 win for the home team.

The U18s continue play in the 2024-25 Kroger College Series tomorrow with a trip to Adrian, Michigan, to take on the Adrian College Bulldogs. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET from Arrington Ice Arena and the game can be streamed live here.
