BLAINE, Minn. Victor Plante (Hermantown, Minn.) scored his first of the year, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team dropped a 6-1 contest to the Minot Minotauros in it's first game of the 2024 NAHL Showcase tonight inside the Super Rink.

The Minotauros opened the game's scoring as Jesse Juhola found one along the goal line just 1:56 in. John Small doubled the lead at the 8:22 mark, capitalizing on chaos in front of Luke Carrithers (Maple Grove, Minn.) inside the U.S. net, then Juhola added a third with a backdoor score just over a minute later.

Murray Marvin-Cordes added a fourth for Minot, then Jack O'Hanisain made it 5-0 in the final three minutes of the period.

Victor Plante (Hermantown, Minn.) got the U.S. on the board with a shorthanded marker. Sammy Nelson (Maple Grove, Minn.) forced a turnover at the point and chipped the puck to Plante, who skated up center ice on a breakaway to beat Lukas Swedin five-hole with 2:22 left on the clock.

But Team USA was unable to strike again, and Luc Bydal snuck one between the post and the pad of Harrison Boettiger (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) 2:17 into the third to bring the final tally to 6-1.

The U17s are back in action this Friday (Sept. 27) at the NAHL Showcase as they take on the Shreveport Mudbugs from the Super Rink at 6:15 p.m. ET and the game can be streamed live on NAHLTV.
