PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Team USA's Under-18 Team and the Youngstown Phantoms are set to play in the 7th annual "Play With Purpose" charity hockey game on Saturday, September 14 at USA Hockey Arena. Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. while doors will open at 5:00 p.m. Limited tickets are available now!
Longtime rivals on the ice, the two teams will now team up to play in a charity game with a greater cause in mind - to help raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. The contest will be played on the Mitchel Kiefer Memorial Rink, to remember and honor the seventh anniversary of Kiefer's passing due to a distracted driver.
The charity game will feature a pre-game ceremony with a special honorary puck drop, guest appearances from local hockey personnel, 50/50 raffle, merchandise sales and a post-game autograph session with all Team USA and Phantoms players. Autograph cards will be provided for all fans.
There are a limited amount of $12 general admission tickets available. Secure yours today by calling the USA Hockey Arena box office at 734-453-8400 or stopping by the box office during normal business hours, 9am-5pm, Monday thru Friday. Any remaining tickets will be sold for $15 at the door on the day of the game.
All proceeds from the Play With Purpose game will go towards supporting local organizations who set out to spread the word on the dangers of distracted driving in an effort to keep our roads safer and safe lives.
Through the efforts of the Kiefer Foundation, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed three bills into law this past June making it illegal to manually use a cell phone or other mobile electronic device while operating a vehicle on Michigan roads. The hands-free law took effect on June 30, 2023. To learn more about the bills, please click here.
The game will be put on with the support of Gallagher-Kaiser and other corporate sponsors including Commerce Controls, Inc., Kais-Air, Universal Piping Industries and Ventcon.
