Rosters, Staff Announced for 2024 Chipotle All-American Game

Top American prospects for NHL Draft set to compete on Jan. 15

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced the 45 players, as well as the coaching and support staffs for Team Blue and Team White, who will compete in the 2024 Chipotle All-American Game, set for Jan. 15 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. The contest, which will feature top prospects eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft, is set for 4 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on NHL Network. 

Mike Leone (Dearborn Heights, Mich.), head coach and general manager of the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, will serve as head coach for Team Blue, while Jason Kersner (Rockville, Md.), head coach of the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers, will be the head coach for Team White. 

Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m. ET and the game can be seen live on NHL Network. Tickets are still available at the USA Hockey Arena box office and can be purchased online here.

ABOUT TEAM BLUE STAFF 

Leone currently serves as general manager and head coach for Green Bay, a position he has held since joining the organization in April 2022. In his first full season at the helm, Leone led the Gamblers to the Clark Cup playoffs after a last-place conference finish the year prior. Currently, the Gamblers are 18-7-4 on the season, ranking second in the Eastern Conference with 40 points.

Prior to joining Green Bay, Leone served three seasons as an assistant coach for the USA HockeyNational Team Development Program. He has also served as an assistant for Team USA at several international competitions, including the 2022 and 2023 World Junior A Challenge, the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, the 2022 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament, the 2021 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship. the 2019 Under-17 Four Nations Tournament, and the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge. Leone served as an assistant coach at the 2023 Chipotle All-American Game. 

Ryan Bourque (Topsfield, Mass.) is serving as an assistant coach for Team Blue. Bourque is currently in his first season as an assistant coach for the NTDP. He began his coaching career as an assistant with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays in 2021, spending two seasons there before joining the NTDP staff. An alumni of the NTDP (2007-09), he played nine seasons of professional hockey from 2011-20, primarily in the AHL.

Corey Leivermann (Mankato, Minn.) will also be an assistant coach for Team Blue. Leivermann is in his first season as associate head coach of the USHL’s Fargo Force after previously serving as head coach and general manager of the USHL’s Madison Capitols in 2022-23. He was an assistant coach in Madison for the two seasons prior. Leivermann joined the Capitols from the NAHL’s Janesville Jets, where he was an assistant coach from 2017-2019 before being promoted to head coach and director of scouting in 2020. He played two seasons for the Force (2008-10), serving as captain in his second season, and played college hockey at Minnesota State University and Gustavus Adolphus College.

Jason Hodges (New Baltimore, Mich.) will serve as athletic trainer, Jake Visser (Grand Rapids,Mich.) as equipment manager, and Scott Aldrich (Hancock, Mich.) will be on the Team Bluestaff.

ABOUT TEAM WHITE STAFF 

Kersner is in his second season as head coach of Sioux City after guiding the Musketeers to the Clark Cup playoffs in his first year at the helm. The team is currently in second place in the USHL’s Western Conference, sporting a 18-9-6 record for 42 points through its first 33 games.

Prior to joining the Musketeers, Kersner served as head coach of the New Jersey Rockets for two seasons (2020-22) where he helped guide the team to a league championship appearance. Kersner also served as an assistant for Sioux City for part of the 2020-21 season. 

Andy Contois (Marquette, Mich.) will be an assistant coach for Team White. He is currently in his third year as associate head coach for the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms. Prior to joining the Phantoms, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the ECHL’s Indy Fuel. Contois also coached at USA Hockey’s Boys 16 Player Development Camp in 2023 and served as an assistant at the 2023 All-American Game. Contois played college hockey at Northern Michigan University. 

Matt Gilroy (North Bellemore, N.Y.) is also serving as an assistant coach for Team White.Gilroy is in his second season as an assistant coach with the NTDP after spending two seasons (2020-22) with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings as an assistant coach with the 12U and 14U AAA teams. He also is serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. Youth Olympic Men’s Team at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games. Gilroy played college hockey at Boston University from 2005-09, where won the 2009 Hobey Baker Award and led the Terriers to the 2009 NCAA national championship. He played 10 seasons of professional hockey, including 225 games in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, and Florida Panthers.Gilroy served as an alternate captain for the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team andplayed for Team USA in the 2010 IIHF Men's World Championship.

Dennis MacDonald (Detroit, Mich.) will serve as the athletic trainer for Team White, and Brock Bradley (West Stockholm, N.Y.) will serve as equipment manager.

The 45 players hail from 15 different states, with Minnesota’s 11 players leading all states. A total of 12 different teams from the USHL are represented across the two rosters and all 45 of the players are currently committed to play NCAA Division I college hockey, across 18 schools.

The Chipotle All-American Game has featured 292 NHL Draft picks, including 63 total first-round selections. Will Smith, Ryan Leonard, Oliver Moore, Charlie Stramel, and Gabe Perreault, all 2023 first-round NHL Draft picks, have played in the Chipotle All-American Game.
