KEARNEY, Neb. - Lincoln Kuehne (West Fargo, N.D.) scored his first of the first season and 13 different U.S. players put up points, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell by a 10-9 count inside the Viaero Center tonight.

The Storm answered with a power-play goal of their own just past the halfway mark of the opening frame off the stick of Jake Rozzi, then added a trio of quick tallies from Seth Constance, Zach Bade and Alex Bales to make it 4-1 with 6:12 to play.

Conrad Fondrk (White Bear Lake, Minn.) cut the lead in half under a minute later. Cole McKinney (Lake Forest, Ill.) connected with  Landon Hafele (Fairbanks, Alaska) in the U.S. zone. Hafele sent a quick tip to Fondrk, who flew into the offensive zone, halted and went blocker-side past Cameron Korpi.

The second period was jam-packed with action as the two teams put up a combined eight goals.

LJ Mooney (West Mifflin, Pa.) brought the U.S. within one 2:30 in, knocking a clearing attempt out of the air and roofing a lethal release from the top of the left circle.

The Storm regained the two-goal lead 11 seconds later as Bade netted his second of the night, then Trevor Connelly made it a three-goal game once again.

It was short lived, however, as Moore picked up his second of the night moments later. Murtagh fed the puck to a wide-open Moore on the doorstep, who went five-hole 4:39 into the period.

Jake Stuart (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was the next to score. Mooney picked up the puck in the neutral zone and dropped a backhander to Stuart, who sniped it from the high slot.

It was Murtagh found the equalizer, scooping up the puck at center ice, gliding into the zone and sending a clapper past Korpi at the 7:24 mark.

But Tri-City regained the lead to start the final frame up by an 8-6 count with goals from Cameron Briere and Owen Beckner.

The period got off to an equally active start as Ryan Smith scored for the Storm 2:48 in, followed by a response from Murtagh 28 seconds later. Will Horcoff (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) stole the puck in the zone and fed it to Murtagh, who skated in the slot for his second score of the night to make it 9-7.

A goal from  Carmelo Crandell scored Tri-City's 10th of the night 8:23 in.

Lincoln Kuehne (West Fargo, N.D.) scored his first of the season to bring the U.S. back within two, ripping a shot from the slot off a feed from Cullen Potter (Minneapolis, Minn.).

A Charlie Trethewey (Woodbine, Md.) power-play snipe from the left cirlce with 4:29 to play brought the final score to 10-9.
