Team returns home for Kids Day Game Wednesday monrning

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The U.S. National Under-18 Team came back to force overtime, but could not top the Clarkson Golden Knights in an eventual 3-2 overtime loss at Cheel Arena Saturday night in New York.

Neither side could find the net in the opening 20 minutes as USA's Nick Kempf (Chicago, Ill.) and Clarkson's Brady Parker turned in a perfect period.

The home side got on the board first early in the second, but Cole Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) answered back to even the game before the midway mark. EJ Emery (Compton, Calif.) made nice defensive play to poke the puck up to Kamil Bednarik (Chicago, Ill.) on the right wing. He entered the zone and found Eiserman in the slot who ripped a wrister to tie the game with his 27th score of the season.

Team USA gained their first lead of the night just past the halfway mark of the third. Eiserman drew the puck back to John Whipple (Minnetonka, Minn.) at the point. The defenseman shot on net and Bednarik got a stick on the puck to go up 2-1.

With less than a minute to play in regulation, Clarkson brought the game back to even as Mathieu Gosselin connected from the slot on a second chance.

Ryan Taylor finished the game less than a minute into overtime for Clarkson to snap the U18s' winning streak.

The Under-18 Team returns home to play the Chicago Steel Wednesday morning in the annual Kids Day Game. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET from USA Hockey Arena and the game can be streamed on USAHockeyTV.com.
