HANOVER, N.H. - Christian Humphreys (Pittsburgh, Pa.) picked up two points with a goal and an assist, but the U.S. National Under-18 Team fell, 7-2, to Dartmouth College in the third game of the 2023-24 Kroger College Series on Sunday evening at Thompson Arena.
Nate Morgan was the first to score, putting Dartmouth ahead 6:07 into the game. Joey Musa added a second for the Big Green with 3:31 left in the period, netting a shot from the high slot to take a 2-0 lead heading into the second.
Humphreys got the U.S. on the board just 2:49 into the middle frame, picking up his fifth goal of the season, and Austin Baker (White Lake, Mich.) earned an assist on the goal.
Dartmouth's Braiden Dorfman answered just over five minutes later to regain the Big Green's two goal lead.
Team USA headed to the power play with two minutes left in the period after drawing a cross-checking call and Kamil Bednarik (Chicago, Ill.) buried one in the final 14 seconds to make it a 3-2 game. Logan Hensler (Woodbury, Minn.) and Humphreys both tallied helpers on the goal.
Sean Chisholm picked up a fourth for Dartmouth 22 seconds into the third, then Ian Pierce added a fifth at the 5:54 mark of the period. A shorthanded score from Ryan Sorkin and a power-play goal from John Fusco brought the final score to 7-2.
The Under-18 Team returns East next weekend to continue this year's Kroger College Series. They suit up Friday night against Utica University at Adirondack Bank Center. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
