McKinney opened the game's scoring with his first of the season on the power play after Team USA drew a holding call. Drew Schock (Green Bay, Wis.) found Landon Hafele (Fairbanks, Alaska) at the goal line, who dished the puck to McKinney at the right cirlcle. McKinney ripped a one timer past Elite League goaltender Kai Weigel for a 1-0 lead at the 7:26 mark of the first period.

The Elite League All-Stars got on the board 2:25 into the middle frame with a wrister from the right circle at the hands of Mason Stenger.

Potter gave the U.S. a 2-1 lead just shy of the game's halfway mark. Will Horcoff (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) dished the puck to Charlie Trethewey (Woodbine, Md.) on the right wing and Tretheway passed it to Potter at the right circle. The future Spartan hesitated before rifled a wrister into the far-side top corner.

Potter added a second just 3:48 later. Jacob Kvasnicka (Plymouth, Minn.) connected with Trethewey, along the boards, carried it up the ice and fed it to Potter with a slick backhand pass at the point. He skated up the right wing and fired from the goal line, at an angle, past Weigel.

The All-Stars got one more as Jackson Ernst buried a rebound to make things 3-2 heading into the final frame.

Phillips regained the two goal lead with a bomb through traffic from the point off a feed from Will Belle (Minnetonka, Minn.) 5:22 into the third. Jack Murtagh (East Greenbush, N.Y.) got a stick on it as well to pick up a helper.
