GENEVA, Ill. - Cole Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) scored twice and added an assist to help the U.S. National Under-18 Team earn a point in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Chicago Steel Saturday night. 

The U18s doubled the lead before the break after Salvatore Guzzo (Old Tappan, N.J.) fired a rocket off a 2-on-1 break for his 15th of the season. A good stick from Zeev Buium (San Diego, Calif.) broke up the Steel opportunity and Danny Nelson (Maple Grove, Minn.) chipped it up to Guzzo for the 2-0 goal. 

USA goalie Carsen Musser (Sherburn, Minn.) made 13 stops in the first, including a tremendous stop on USHL leading scorer Macklin Celebrini on a breakaway. 

The Steel's Chris Able got into the crease 13 seconds into the middle period and flipped his backhand shot in to get the home team on the board and cut the U.S. lead in half. 

While shorthanded, Nick Moldenhauer got behind the U18 defense and roofed his shot to even the score at 2:51 of the second.

The U18s regained the lead less than a minute later after Will Vote (Arlington, Mass.) banged home a one-timer off a pretty cross-crease set-up from Eiserman. The goal was Vote's 15th to put Team USA back ahead, 3-2. 

Eiserman made it a multi-goal night, his sixth in 11 games with the U18s, when he chipped a backhand past Jack Stark to make it 4-2. The future Minnesota Golden Gopher intercepted a pass, raced down the right wing and his centering attempt went off the skate of a defenseman and in for his third point of the night. 

The Steel pulled to within one as Chris Delaney followed in front after Musser made the initial stop to make it 4-3 just more than three minutes into the third. 

Chicago found the evener on a power play with less than five minutes to play in regulation. Michael Emerson tapped in after a nice offensive-zone passing sequence for the Steel to tie the game. 

The Steel momentarily took the lead as Jack Harvey connected with 1:15 to play, but Will Smith (Lexington, Mass.) answered 16 seconds later to force  an overtime period. Smith forced a neutral-zone turnover and flew down the left wing. He sent a rocket far-side from the left circle to give Team USA a point. 

As Chicago was on the man advantage in the extra session, Moldenhauer used a quick release from between the circles to end the game in favor of the home team.

Musser finished the night with 36 saves, the second-highest output of his season. 

The two sides will run it back tomorrow afternoon in the final game of the Under-18 Team's domestic schedule. Puck drop is set for 4:00 p.m. ET from Fox Valley Ice Arena.
