Moore ties season high with four-point night

MADISON, Wis. Oliver Moore (Mounds View, Minn.) recorded two goals and two assists and Ryan Fine (Center Moriches, N.Y.) added three points to lead the U.S. National Under-18 Team to a dominating 6-1 win over the Wisconsin Badgers Friday night at the Kohl Center.

Team USA opened the scoring just 65 seconds into the game as Will Vote (Arlington, Mass.) hammered home a rebound attempt in the slot. Aram Minnetian (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) pushed the puck to Oliver Moore (Mounds View, Minn.) entering the offensive zone down the right wing. He took the initial shot that was stopped but Vote collected the rebound for his 12th goal of the campaign.

Both sides had ample opportunities throughout the rest of the period, but neither team could light the lamp. USA netminder Carsen Musser (Sherburn, Minn.) turned aside all 12 shots he saw while Badger goalie Kyle McClellan made 11 saves, including a trio of USA breakaways he turned aside.

Wisconsin worked the game back to even as NTDP alum Cruz Lucius fired a quick wrister at 7:35 of the middle frame.

After a crazy sequence that saw three straight breakaways on both ends of the ice, Team USA regained the lead on Ryan Fine's (Center Moriches, N.Y.) 12th score of the year. He nabbed a loose puck and put a deke on McClellan before he finished with the backhand for a 2-1 lead.

The U18s doubled the advantage with 6:23 remaining in the second. Vote freed up a puck and got it to Moore who was charging down the right wing. He roofed a quick wrister from the right circle to put the U.S. ahead, 3-1.

Early in the third period, Beckett Hendrickson (Minnetonka, Minn.) fired five-hole from the bottom of the right circle to extend the U18 lead to 4-1. Fine and Minnetian assisted on Hendrickson's eight marker of the year.

Ryan Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) blew by the Badger defense and chipped in a quick shot at 5:36 of third. Moore connected for his second of the night on the power play less than a minute later for the 6-1 final.

Musser finished the night with 35 saves to pick up his 10th win of the season.

The U18s return home next weekend to host the Muskegon Lumberjacks Saturday night at USA Hockey Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. and tickets are available at USAHockeyNTDP.com/tix
