U17s Split Series With 10-2 Loss to Dubuque

Fleming scores third goal in series

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The U.S. National Under-17 Team could not stymie the Dubuque Fighting Saints offense Friday night at Mystique Community Ice Center, falling 10-2 in the series finale between the two teams.

The Fighting Saints took control early in the game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead after the first period. 

The Fighting Saints added another goal in the middle frame to extend the lead to 7-0, but Maddox Fleming (Rochester, Minn.) scored his third goal of the weekend to cut the lead to 7-1.

Frank Nazar III (Mount Clemens, Mich.) struck moments later to notch his second of the weekend and further shave the lead to 7-2. The Fighting Saints rounded out the middle frame scoring with an eighth goal to take an 8-2 lead into the final intermission.

Despite outshooting Dubuque in the third period, the Fighting Saints added another pair of tallies to finish off a 10-2 loss for the U17s. 

Cameron Korpi (South Lyon, Mich.) and Tyler Muszelik (Long Valley, N.J) combined for 22 saves in the loss. 

The U17s return to action Saturday against the Green Bay Gamblers at the Resch Center. Puck drop for the contest is set for 8 p.m. ET.
