Behrens collects a pair of points in win

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The U.S. National Under-18 Team scored twice in the final period to help top the Green Bay Gamblers, 3-2, Saturday night at Resch Center in Wisconsin.

After fighting back to earn a point last night, the U18s took three of a possible four points against Green Bay this weekend.

Red Savage (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored the only goal of the game's opening 40 minutes with his 12th marker of the season with just under five minutes to play in the first. Sean Behrens (Barrington, Ill.) carried the puck along the left wing and centered a feed for Savage. The center collected the puck, steadied and flipped his shot over Matthew Davis for a 1-0 lead.

After a goalless middle frame, Green Bay knotted up the game with a goal less than a minute into the third.

Team USA responded with the next pair of goals, the first from Logan Cooley (West Mifflin, Pa.) to take back the lead. Jacob Martin (Eagle River, Wis.) rimmed a pass around the boards and behind the net to Sasha Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) The U18s' leading scorer fed Cooley in front where he redirected the puck in for a 2-1 lead.

Dylan Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) potted the eventual game-winner with great positioning in front of the net on the power play. Behrens rode the left wing and found Duke who chipped his shot up and in for a 3-1 lead.

Green Bay got to within a goal, but the U18s stymied the late pressure as the Gamblers had their goalie pulled in a 5-on-4 situation.

Gibson Homer (Grand Rapids, Mich.) turned aside 28 of 30 Gamblers shots to pick up the win in net and extend his record to 17-5-0 on the season.

The U18s wrap up their road trip tomorrow afternoon in Iowa when they square off against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from Mystique Ice Center.
