On getting to stay home to play in Michigan:

"It's really home for me. It's awesome that I get to stay home and play the two years here. The support is awesome, I have fans from Clarkston at all my games. Last year at the first game, I had a huge cheering section, so that's always nice. Just growing up around here, being from Michigan, you hear about the NTDP all the time, so it's awesome to live out my dream here."

Someone who has helped Ty in hockey?

"My dad is someone I'd really like to thank. He got me started in athletics and in hockey. But one person I do want to thank is Kyle Cummings. He played hockey at Clarkston High School, where I'm from. My dad was his gym teacher and my dad brought me to a game and Kyle brought me into the locker room, took me on the ice, really took me under his wing, he really got me started. I think the next day I asked for a pair of skates. So I'd really like to thank him, he got the ball rolling."

On the offseason between 17s and 18s season:

"I think one of the main goals was just getting bigger, faster, stronger. I know it's cliche, but that's always the focus and we had so much time off that I really got to put focus on and off the ice in the offseason to complete those goals. I think I came in bigger, faster, stronger like I wanted to."

On preparing for U18 World Championships:

"It's awesome because nothing is guaranteed right now, so the word that Worlds is happening is awesome news. Leading up to the tournament, I think we're just working on staying close as a group, staying together as brothers and going into that tournament as strong as we can. Putting in the work on and off the ice, in the classroom, just preparation so we're not worried about anything when we get there."
