PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Down 3-2 in the third period, Logan Cooley (West Mifflin, Pa.) scored with 30.3 seconds to play in regulation to tie the game, but Green Bay scored with 1.1 seconds remaining to claim a 4-3 victory Saturday evening at USA Hockey Arena.

En route to a hat-trick performance, Green Bay's Ryan Kirwan put the Gamblers on the board midway through the first period, but Rutger McGroarty (Lincoln, Neb.) scored his second goal of the series to tie the game, and Brady Berard (East Greenwich, Conn.) tacked on another tally to give Team USA a 2-1 lead heading into the first break.

Tyler Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) displayed his puck handling skills as he carried the puck through the offensive zone and ripped a shot from the right circle, and McGroarty put back the rebound to tie the game.

With two minutes to play in the first frame, Berard stuffed a feed from Seamus Casey (Estero, Fla.) between the legs of Gamblers goaltender Matthew Davis to put the U.S. on top.

Highlights

The Gamblers once again gained the upper hand in the second period, scoring a pair of goals to take a 3-2 lead with a period to play.

The U.S. turned on the gas in the final frame, outshooting the Gamblers 14-8.

With less than a minute to play, Duke fed a pass from the goal line to a waiting Cooley at the blue line. Cooley carried the puck down the right side of the ice before cutting in and firing the game-tying goal past Davis to make it a 3-3 contest.

Despite the momentum shift in Team USA's favor, Kirwan completed his hat trick with just over a second to play in regulation, slotting the puck past U.S. goaltender Dylan Silverstein (Calabasas, Calif.) to lift the Gamblers to a 4-3 victory.

Silverstein made 30 saves on the night.

The U17s return to play next week when they face the Muskegon Lumberjacks Friday at Mercy Health Arena.
