SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The U.S. National Under-17 Team completed its first sweep of the season, defeating the Soo Eagles, 10-0, Wednesday night at Pullar Stadium.

Nine different skaters tallied goals for the U.S., including Isaac Howard (Hudson, Wis.), who scored his team-leading fifth goal in the victory.

Marek Hejduk (Parker, Colo.) opened the scoring for the U.S. just 29 seconds into the first period after putting away a loose rebound after Maddox Fleming's (Rochester, Minn.) shot hit the right post of the Eagles' net.

On the first power play of the night, Rutger McGroarty (Lincoln, Neb.) buried a rebound off a shot from Seamus Casey (Estero, Fla.) to extend the U.S. lead to 2-0 before Cole Spicer (Grand Forks, N.D.) tipped in a  Charlie Leddy (Fairfield, Conn.) shot from the top of the right circle to make it a 3-0 game.

Howard collected the puck at the goal line and tucked a shot past Eagles goaltender Ryan Gilmore to round out the first period scoring and give the U.S. a 4-0 lead heading into intermission.

Picking up where they left off, the U.S. tacked on five goals in another high-scoring second period, including a pair of shorthanded tallies. Logan Cooley (West Mifflin, Pa.), Cruz Lucius (Grant, Minn.) and Frank Nazar III (Mount Clemens, Mich.) each scored their first goals of the season to help the U.S. to a 9-0 lead heading into the final frame.

Devin Kaplan (Bridgewater, N.J.) also notched his first goal in an NTDP sweater, beating Eagles goaltender Gabe Rosek glove-side from close range  to secure a 10-0 win over the Eagles.

Tyler Muszelik (Long Valley, N.J.) notched his first shutout of the season with the victory.
