The U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to Russia, 4-0 today in the finale of their Five Nations tournament. With the loss Team USA finished in second place.
Both teams had solid chances in the first period but Russia was the lone team to find the back of the net.
At 18:20 of the first period Russia took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal.
With just six seconds left in the first, Russia extended their lead, 2-0.
Neither team could capitalize in the second period despite Team USA outshooting Russia, 15-7.
Russia doubled their lead in the third period for a 4-0 final.
Team USA outshot Russia 35-24, and Dylan Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) was named the Player of the Game for Team USA.
The U17s return to USHL action next Saturday (Feb. 15) against the Chicago Steel at Fox Valley Ice Arena at 8 p.m. ET.
