U17s Fall to Waterloo, 6-1

U17s look forward to international break

WATERLOO, Iowa- The U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Waterloo Black Hawks tonight on the road, 6-1.

Waterloo took a 1-0 lead on the power play at 3:31 of the first period.

The Black Hawks extended their lead 1:09 into the second frame after Quinn Rudrud netted his first goal of the season sending it in glove-side.

After a quick centering pass the Black Hawks took a 3-0 lead at 3:02 of the third period.

Griffin Ness converted on the breakaway extending Waterloo’s lead, 4-0 early in the third.

The Black Hawks added another two before the U17s got on the board.

Jack Hughes (Westwood, Mass.) sent a centering pass to the front of the net where Jeremy Wilmer (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) redirected the puck into the net to avoid the shutout with just over a minute left in the game.

The U17s are off next weekend while they head to Russia for their third international tournament of the year. They face-off against the Czech Republic on Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. ET.
