U17s Fall to Des Moines, 5-3

U17s continue road trip in Waterloo tomorrow

DES MOINES, Iowa- The U.S. National Under-17 Team score two short-handed goals but fell to the Buccaneers in Des Moines, 5-3.

The Buccaneers jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Dylan Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) put Team USA on the board on a breakaway at 18:10 of the first period. The short-handed tally was Team USA’s second short-handed goal in as many nights.

Des Moines scored with two seconds left in the first to take a 4-1 lead into the first intermission.

Box Score

Sean Behrens (Barrington, Ill.) converted a two-on-one, short-handed, with the help of Tyler Boucher (Haddonfield, N.J.) at 6:18 of the second period to make it 4-2.

About a minute later, at 7:26 of the second, Des Moines netted a power-play goal for their fifth of the night.

Jack Hughes (Westwood, Mass.) scored a power-play goal for Team USA, sending the puck in on the short side to pull the U17s within two.

Neither team found the back of the net in the third and the U17s fell, 5-3.

The U17s continue their road trip tomorrow (Jan. 25) at Waterloo. Puck drops inside Young Arena at 8 p.m. ET.
