The U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Dubuque Fighting Saints at Mystique Ice Center tonight (Jan. 23), 9-3.
The Fighting Saints jumped out to an early lead netting four goals in the first 12:03 of the game.
At 13:45 Jack Devine (Glencoe, Ill.) put home a rebound on the power play with the help of Dylan Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) to get the U17s on the board.
Dubuque added another goal at the 1:49 mark of the second period.
Tyler Boucher (Haddonfield, N.J.) cleaned up his own rebound at 7:05 of the second to make it, 5-2. Justin Janicke (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Jacob Martin (Eagle River, Wis.) picked up the assists.
The Fighting Saints added two in the second period to take a 7-2 lead.
Aidan Hreshuck (Long Beach, Calif.) netted the U17s third of the night after a scrum in front of the net while Team USA was shorthanded. Jack Hughes (Westwood, Mass.) and Sean Behrens (Barrington, Ill.) picked up the assists.
Dubuque added two in the third for a 9-3 final.
The U17s continue their road trip tomorrow against Des Moines at 8 p.m. ET.
