GREEN BAY, Wis. - The U.S. National Under-17 Team defeated the Green Bay Gamblers, 4-3 in a shootout tonight in Green Bay.
The Gamblers got out to an early lead netting a power-play goal at the 8:36 mark of the first.
Chaz Lucius (Grant, Minn.) responded with his own power-play goal, and his 24th goal of the year, at 16:12 of the fist period. Luke Hughes (Manchester, Mich.) and Sasha Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) tallied the helpers.
Team USA took a 2-1 lead late in the first when. Justin Janicke tipped in a wraparound shot by Colby Saganiuk (Plainfield, Ill.).
Saganiuk skated up the left side leaving a pass for Luke Hughes who sent it to Ryan St. Louis (Riverside, Conn.) out front who made it, 3-1.
Green Bay pulled within one at 13:14 of the middle frame.
The Gamblers tied the game, 3-3, with a power-play goal at 10:25 of the third period.
After a scoreless overtime period, Dylan Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) scored the lone shootout goal for either team to seal the game, 4-3.
Gibson Homer (Grand Rapids, Mich.) made 25 saves in the win including two in the shootout.
The Under-17 Team continues its road trip tomorrow (Dec. 1) afternoon in Madison, taking on the Capitols at 4 p.m. ET.
