BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - USA Hockey's National Team Development Program Under-18 squad accumulated a 25-23 shot advantage, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 5-0 loss to the Ferris State Bulldogs Tuesday evening at Ewigleben Ice Arena.
The Bulldogs jumped on Team USA early with four goals in a ten-minute span early in the first. Marshall Moise, Cade Kowalski, Lucas Finner and Liam MacDougall registered the scores for Ferris State.
Bulldogs forward Hunter Wendt scored the lone goal of the middle frame when he used a bank-shot off the goalie to extend the lead to 5-0.
U18s goaltender Noah Grannan (Germantown, Wisc.) was solid in relief, as he turned aside 15 of the 16 shots he saw in his nearly 50 minutes of ice time.
Forward Brett Berard (East Greenwich, R.I.) paced Team USA with five shots on net while Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas) and Luke Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) added three attempts apiece.
The U18s continue their stretch of NCAA Series games as they travel this weekend to Providence College (Oct. 12) and the College of the Holy Cross (Oct. 13).
