CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Penn. - Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas) scored two goals and added an assist and goaltender Drew Commesso (Boston, Mass.) stopped all 26 shots he saw to power USA Hockey's National Team Development Program Under-18 Team to a 4-0 victory over the Sioux City Musketeers at the 2019 Dick's Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
The U18s are now 3-0-0-0 overall. Team USA improves to 2-0-0-0 in the USHL.
Brett Berard (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Landon Slaggert (South Bend, Ind.) added goals and Luke Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) recorded two assists.
Commesso recorded his fourth career NTDP shutout and second in the USHL.
The U18s outshot Sioux City, 14-10, in the first period and scored the only goal of the frame.
Bordeleau skated from behind the Musketeers net and jammed a wraparound at the left post. Slaggert - with traffic all around the blue ice - found the loose puck and buried his third goal of the season at 12:10.
The U18s continued to go hard to the net in the second period and scored twice to take a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Working well with his linemates, Berard worked through traffic to score just outside the Sioux City left post at 6:24. Bordeleau scored at 12:41 of the period when he took Luke Tuch's pass from the left point and outwaited Musketeers' goaltender Ethan Haider to tuck in a backhand for a 3-0 lead.
The U18s outshot Sioux City, 11-9, in the second period.
Bordeleau finished the scoring in the third period, taking Owen Gallatin's (Hugo, Minn.) stretch pass and scoring on a breakaway.
Team USA outshot Sioux City, 34-26, in the game.
