USA Hockey's NTDP Seeks Interns for 2024-25 Season

The NTDP is currently accepting applications for communications, marketing and box office interns

USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program is currently accepting applications for communications, marketing and box office internships for the 2024-25 season at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.  The internships' primary focus is to give young professionals an opportunity to learn in a fast-paced environment with the potential to break into the sports industry. Candidates must possess strong attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to react quickly and appropriately.

Interns will be asked to work NTDP home games that fall primarily on Friday and Saturday evenings. Office hours are also available. The internships are unpaid; college credit is available.


Sports Communications

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with game night communications operations (collect and run stats, assist with social media, write game recaps, etc.)
  • Generate weekly public relations content for the NTDP and USA Hockey Arena platforms (website, social media, e-blasts, etc.)
  • Assist with management of the NTDP’s social media platforms
  • Create graphics and highlight packages
  • Update the USA Hockey Arena and NTDP websites
  • Serve as a photographer for certain events

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong writing and speaking skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Familiarity with all aspects of social media (understanding of how to write copy for web platforms)
  • Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere skills preferred
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays

Marketing Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work Team USA home games at USA Hockey Arena
  • Assist with efficiently executing in-game promotionsincluding selecting guests to participate in on-ice activities, as well as pre- and post-game activities
  • Fulfill partnership activation, including concourse marketing and setup of tables and signage
  • Ensure a first-class and memorable experience for all fans at USA Hockey Arena

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Experience with live event planning/execution preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with hockey preferred, but not required
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays

Ticket Sales

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work Team USA home games at USA Hockey Arena
  • Assist with ticket sales staff to manage box office windows and day-of-game ticket sales
  • Provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact for individuals attending USA Hockey Arena
  • Collaborate with marketing team on in-game promotions and activities, including selecting guests to participate in promotions and on-ice activities, as well as pre- and post-game activities and provide in-arena tours
  • Ensure a first-class and memorable experience for all fans at USA Hockey Arena

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • College student seeking a career in sales, marketing, business, communications, or sport management preferred
  • Familiarity with hockey preferred (not required)
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a professional demeanor
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • College credit for internship hours is available, along with letters of recommendation and networking throughout the sports industry
