Duke, Lucius each score twice for Team USA

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Dylan Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) and Chaz Lucius (Grant, Minn.) each scored twice as the U.S. National Under-17 Team defeated the Johnstown Tomahawks, 5-1, at Cambria County War Memorial Arena on Saturday night.

Lucius opened the scoring at the 10:54 mark of the first period with Jack Devine (Glencoe, Ill.) and Ty Murchison (Corona, Calif.) picking up the assists.

Shortly after the start of the second period, Lucius added his second goal of the game after collecting the puck in the slot and firing it into the far side of the net.

Just 3:04 after Lucius doubled the lead for Team USA, Ryan St. Louis (Riverside, Conn.) forced a Johnstown turnover and collected the puck in the offensive zone. St. Louis handled the puck in the high slot before feeding Duke on the back door, who one-timed the puck into the back of the net to push the lead to 3-0.

At the 13:29 mark, Sasha Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) gained control of the puck at the defensive blue line before steaming ahead on a shorthanded breakaway. Streaking up the right side of the ice, Pastujov entered the offensive zone and beat the Johnstown goaltender with a wrist shot to the low-blocker side.

Team USA added one more goal in the third period, with Duke collecting his second tally of the night. On the power play, St. Louis collected the puck at the top of the right circle before feeding a pass to Duke, who was waiting at the bottom of the circle. After taking the pass, Duke surveyed his options before firing a wrist shot, short-side, into the top right corner.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team takes the ice again Sunday afternoon (Sep. 8) at Cambria County War Memorial Arena in a 1 p.m. ET matchup against Johnstown. The game can be streamed live at HockeyTV.com.
