PLYMOUTH, Mich. – U.S. National Under-18 Team forward Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) and defenseman Domenick Fensore (Thornwood, N.Y.) earned the USHL's Forward and Defenseman of the Week Honors, the USHL announced Monday afternoon.

Caufield scored two goals and dished out two assists in Team USA's 11-2 win at Central Illinois on Wednesday before scoring four goals and adding his third assist of the week on Friday in an 11-0 road shutout of the Madison Capitols. It was the second-ever four-goal performance by a Team USA player, as current University of Michigan blueliner and Vancouver Canucks prospect Quinn Hughes found the back of the net four times on Dec. 30, 2015. It was also the first time a Team USA player recorded at least five points in a game since defenseman Cam York had seven points in a game on Jan. 15.

The University of Wisconsin commit has continued his high-scoring ways this season, as he leads Team USA with 29 points (18G, 11A) in 20 games with the U18s. His 18 goals also lead all Team USA players, while his 11 assists are good for ninth in the league. In his 20 USHL games this year, he has scored multiple goals four times and has recorded multiple points eight times.

A native of Stevens Point, Wis., Caufield burst onto the USHL scene last season in his first year with Team USA, recording 33 points (23G, 10A) in 32 games to help Team USA to the Clark Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2011-12. He is considered a top prospect for the 2019 NHL Draft, as he was listed as an A-rated skater on both the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary and Updated Players to Watch List, and was then ranked 15th among North American skaters on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings. Prior to his time with Team USA, Caufield skated for Team Wisconsin and Stevens Point Area High.

Fensore tallied three assists on Wednesday against Central Illinois before scoring his fifth goal of the season and adding another assist on Friday. On Saturday, he recorded his fifth helper of the weekend against the Capitols. With his performance last week, the Boston University commit extended his point streak to seven games, with 10 points (3G, 7A) in those contests dating back to Jan. 26. On the season, he has recorded 14 points (5G, 9A) in 17 USHL games. His five goals led all Team USA defensemen, his 14 points rank second and his nine assists are good for third among NTDP blueliners.

He is in the midst of his second USHL season and is coming off a year in which he recorded 16 points (1G, 15A) in 35 games to help Team USA to the Clark Cup Playoffs, where he recorded an assist in eight postseason contests and help Team USA advance all the way to the Eastern Conference Final. He is ranked 89th as a third-round selection among North American skaters on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings. Fensore is a native of Thornwood, NY and previously played for the P.A.L Junior Islanders.

The USHL’s Goaltender of the Week honor was awarded to Evan Fear of the Waterloo Black Hawks, marking his fourth weekly award of the season.
