SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Despite a 23-save performance from Drew Commesso (Norwell, Mass.), the U.S. National Under-17 Team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday night at Tyson Events Center.

The U17s now sit at 17-21-3-3-0 on the season. Team USA holds a combined 22-17-2-3 record in USHL play.

Commesso, who made numerous glove stops through traffic, kept the U17s within striking distance despite limited offensive pressure.

Sioux City opened up scoring with a power-play tally at the 17-minute, 25-second mark of the first period.

The U17s mustered just three shots in the opening frame and trailed 1-0 at the break.

Box Score

Dylan Peterson's (Roseville, Calif.) rebound attempt from the slot after a hard initial wrist shot from Brett Berard (E. Greenwich, R.I.) represented Team USA's best scoring opportunity of the second.

Captained by Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas) on the left side, the U17s generated pressure on a third-period power-play opportunity, but could not find the equalizer.

The Musketeers doubled their advantage with seven minutes to play in regulation and added an empty-net tally in the final seconds to seal the win.

The U17s return to action Saturday (March 9) when they face off against the Chicago Steel. Puck drop is set for 8:05 p.m. ET at Fox Valley Ice Arena.

NOTES: Sioux City outshot Team USA by a 26-15 margin ... The U17s went 0-for-2 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
