U17s Top Sioux City Musketeers 4-3

Seven players find the scoresheet in victory

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Danny Weight (Lattingtown, N.Y.), Jacob Truscott (Fort Gratiot, Mich.), Brock Faber (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas) all scored in the U.S. National Under-17 Team's 4-3 victory over the Sioux City Musketeers Friday night at Tyson Events Center.

Weight opened the scoring for Team USA when he capitalized off a feed from Dylan Peterson (Roseville, Calif.) during an odd-man rush 1:33 into play.

Truscott doubled the lead 9:13 into play when he fired a one-timer from the point off a feed from Weight on the power play, concluding the scoring for the first frame.

Sioux City closed the gap with 6:30 remaining in the middle stanza before Faber scored for Team USA 3:07 later with the assist of Luke Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y.).

The Musketeers got one back with 2:08 left in the second period, bringing the score to 3-2 in favor of Team USA entering the final 20 minutes.

Bordeleau notched his fifteenth of the season 6:39 into the final frame before Sioux City responded 20 seconds later. Noah Grannan (Germantown, Wis.)  stood tall in the final minutes, keeping Team USA ahead by one and accounting for the 4-3 final.

Grannan stopped 21 of 24  shots on goal in the victory.

The U17s face the Musketeers again tomorrow night at Tyson Events Center. Puck drop is set for 8:05 p.m. ET and can be streamed on HockeyTV.com.

NOTES: Team USA was outshot by Sioux City 24-22, went 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
