VOTES FOR VICTORY: Will Vote (Arlington, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal for the Under-17s against the Capitols. Just 35 seconds into the third period, Vote forced a turnover in the defensive zone and brought the puck down the ice to put Team USA back on top, 4-3. 

The  unassisted goal, his 19th of the season, would earn the team two points in the standings with their win.  

SMITTY SIXTY: Will Smith (Lexington, Mass.) notched his 60th point of the season in the U17s 5-3 victory over the Capitols. Smith made a heads-up play, nabbing the puck in open ice and taking the play to Madison’s net. 

He collected an assist on Team USA’s second goal of the night to bring him to 60 on the season, first among all skaters for the U17s. 

FIRST FOR FORTESCUE: Drew Fortescue (Pearl River, N.Y.) netted his first goal for Team USA in the second period of Saturday’s game. He collected a pass from Kaden Muir (Manchester, N.H.) and fired from above the left faceoff circle to bury the puck in the top corner of the net.

ONE, TWO, THREE MOORE GOALS: Oliver Moore (Mounds View, Minn.) scored two goals against the Madison Capitols on Saturday evening, bringing him to 25 goals on the season. 

Assisted by Smith and Kai Janviriya (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Moore gave Team USA a two-goal lead with a tip-in on Janviriya’s shot midway through the first period. Moore would earn his 25th of the season with a 200 foot shot, burying an empty netter and securing a victory for the Under-17s. 

Moore has scored 9 points in his last 7 games played and leads all U17 skaters in goals.

CRUZIN' ALONG: Cruz Lucius (Grant, Minn.), who returned to the lineup on March 19, earned his 10th point of the season with a two-point night against Cedar Rapids on April 3. Lucius additionally scored two goals in the U18s’ 6-2 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday night, finishing his final two USHL games of the season with four points. 

Assisted by Charlie Leddy (Fairfield, Conn.) and Logan Cooley (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Lucius made it a 4-2 game with a one-timer from the right faceoff circle. 

Lucius will travel with the rest of the Under-18 Team to the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship in Landshut & Kaufbeuren, Germany, where they will compete from April 23-May 1.  

McGROARTY GOAL LEAD: Rutger McGroarty (Lincoln, Neb.) finished his USHL regular season on a high note on April 3, scoring his 27th goal of the season, the most among all U18 skaters. 

McGroarty’s goal,  notched a goal and two assists on the night, a team-high for the U18s.  His three-point night earned him his 60th of the season, fourth among all U18 skaters.
