A BAKER'S DOZEN: The Under-17 Team recorded a season-high 13 goals in their shutout win over St. Andrew's Prep last Saturday. The game marked the first time an NTDP team had scored that much since a 12-2 win over the Soo Eagles on October 13, 2020 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

Ryan Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) led the way with his first career NTDP hat-trick and added a pair of assists to give him a five-point night. Will Smith (Lexington, Mass.) had a goal and three assists while Gabe Perreault (Hinsdale, Ill.) recorded two goals and two assists to pitch in four points apiece.

In total, nine U17 skaters scored in the game and 15 different players recorded at least a point.

WE'RE GOING STREAKING: After their shutout over St. Andrew's, the U17 goaltending trio has extended its current shutout streak to 126:06, dating back to last Monday's 5-2 win over Team Selects at the NAHL Top Prospects tournament in Pennsylvania.

Michael Chambre (Fort Myers, Fla.) started the streak by finishing the win on Monday afternoon. Carsen Musser (Sherburn, Minn.) followed with a shutout on Day 2 of the Top Prospects tourney in the U17s' 7-0 win and started the game over St. Andrew's, playing the first half of the contest. Trey Augustine (South Lyon, Mich.) finished the game in net with 10 saves to preserve the shutout.

The crew will be tested in Chicago as the Steel have potted 153 goals in 39 games, fourth most in the league.

HAT TOSS: After his three-goal, three-assist, six-point outburst over the weekend, U17 forward Ryan Leonard (Amherst, Mass.) made it three straight weeks that an NTDP forward has picked up a hat-trick.

Charlie Stramel (Rosemount, Minn.) started the streak with three goals in a 9:01 span as the U18s topped Madison by a 9-4 final on January 22.

Cutter Gauthier (Scottsdale, Ariz.) followed with a trio of markers in February 4's crazy come-from-behind 9-8 win over the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

Leonard recorded a natural hat-trick, three straight goals in the game, in just 5:26 between the end of first and beginning of the second periods.

Leonard now has 14 goals on the season, good for third among all U17 skaters. The Boston College commit has 25 points on the season as he has split time between the U17 and U18 teams.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Under-18 Team has gone 3-0-0 in their trio of true USHL road contests and looks to make it four in a row to start the year in Dubuque on Friday night.

The U18s beat the Madison Capitols 7-5 at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice on December 4, and topped Dubuque in their pair of games on January 7-8 with 4-2 and 6-5 wins.

After this weekend, the squad will have plenty more opportunities to prove themselves on the road with a half-dozen games to play away from USA Hockey Arena. The U18s travel to Youngstown for a morning game next Wednesday, will play a pair in Muskegon on March 11-12 and finish their regular season with a three-game road trip through Green Bay for two games and Cedar Rapids on April 1-3.
