SPICE LIVEL: U18 forward Cole Spicer (Grand Forks, N.D.) put together an impressive weekend against Chicago, netting a trio of goals over the two games played.

After starting the season with points in five of his first six games, Spicer's tallies broke a five-game scoreless drought for the forward.

Spicer now sits tied for fourth on the U18s with five goals on the season and he has already outproduced his goal total of four as a U17 from the 2020-21 campaign.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: The Under-18 Team defeated the Chicago Steel by a 5-1 final Saturday night to improve its record to 6-1-0 on all Saturday games this season.

The team has doubled up its oppenents, skating to a 32-16 advantage in all games played on Friday. The U18s will have to wait for a chance to extend their record as the next Saturday game of the season doesn't come until December 4 when the boys will lace up against the Madison Capitols in Wisconsin. 

INTERNATIONAL TOUR: After Friday's game against Adrian, both the U17s and U18s will embark on their first international trip of the season for next week.

The U17s will get their first overseas experience as they compete in a Four Nations Tournament in Vaasa, Finland with the Finns, Swedes and Czech Republic.

The U18s, who did not get to compete in any international tournaments last season as a team, will play in a Five Nations in Monthey, Switzerland along with the Swiss, Sweden, Czech Republic and Finland.

Seven members of the Under-18 Team have international experience with the NTDP after competing at the 2021 Under-18 Men's World Championship last April in Frisco & Plano, Texas - defensemen Ryan Chesley (Mahtomedi, Minn.) and Lane Hutson (North Barrington, Ill.) along with forwards Logan Cooley (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Marek Hejduk (Parker, Colo.), Isaac Howard (Hudson, Wis.), Rutger McGroarty (Lincoln, Neb.) and Charlie Stramel (Rosemount, Minn.) all suited up for Team USA. 

HATTY KANE: NTDP alum Patrick Kane (NTDP 2004-06 / Chicago Blackahwks) returned from a four-game absence while in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol to notch his seventh career hat-trick and lead the Blackhawks to their first win of the season.

Kane scored a power-play goal in teh second period and added two more in the third period to move into third place on Chicago's all-time goal scoring list, behind only Hall of Famers Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull. 

Kane has recorded nine points (4g-5a) through his first six games played of the young season.

WEEKLY HONORS: The NTDP was well-represented on the ECAC's weekly awards listing as Sean Farrell (NTDP 2017-19 / Harvard University) won the conference's rookie of the week and defenseman Henry Thrun (NTDP 2017-19 / Harvard University) won the player of the week.

After spending last season with the USHL's Chicago Steel, Farrell made his NCAA debut and picked up seven points in two games for the Crimson.

NTDP and Harvard teammate Thrun racked up eight points in two games and became the first Crimson player to dish out five assists in a single game since 2002.

THAT'S FOXY: NTDP alum and New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox (NTDP 2014-16 / New York Rangers) signed a seven-year, 66.5 million dollar extension on Monday evening to remain in the Big Apple.

After a dominant 2020-21 season when Fox produced 47 points (5g-42a) in 55 on his way to becoming the  Norris Trophy winner as the league's best defenseman, Fox has gottten off to an even better start this year with 11 points (2g-9a) through his first 10 games played.

The Jericho, New York, native collected 86 points in his NTDP career to put him fourth among all defensemen in scoring in NTDP history. His 59 points in the 2015-16 campaign ranks second only to Cam York's 65 for most by a blueliner in a single season.

PARTY UP NORTH: Anaheim Ducks prospect Sasha Pastujov (NTDP 2019-21 / Guelph Storm) was named the OHL Player of the Month for October and currently sits tied for the league lead in both goals (10) and points (17) through 10 games of the season.

Pastujov scored his first career OHL hat-trick when he lit the lamp three times on October 9 against Ktichener and proceeded to record points in eight consecutive games from Oct 9 -29, headlined by a seven-point outburst (5g-2a) during the last weekend of October.

A third-round pick (66th overall) of the Ducks during the 2021 NHL Draft, Pastujov is in his first season in the OHL after being named one of Team USA's three best players at the 2021 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship in Texas last April. The youngest of the Pastujov brothers, Sasha signed a three-year, entry level NHL contract with the Ducks in August.
