NEW NO. 1: Jack Hughes and Cole Caufield earned sole ownership of the NTDP career points and career goals records, on the same play, in the U18s' 12-4 win on Friday, Mar. 15 against the Green Bay Gamblers.
Caufield recorded a six-goal night to secure the record, exceeding Phil Kessel’s (NTDP 2003-2005) prior record of 104 goals in his career with the NTDP. Hughes tallied five assists throughout the game, his fifth being an assist that led to Caufield’s record-breaking goal. Hughes exceeded Clayton Keller’s (NTDP 2014-2016) record of 189 points in his NTDP career.
In addition to career records breaking, the U18s' performance against Green Bay on Mar. 15 and 16 rewrote other records.
Its 13-goal performance on Mar. 16 marked the first time that an NTDP team hit the 13-goal mark since Mar. 18, 2005, against Toledo. Additionally, Caufield earned the spot as the first NTDP player to score six goals in a single game in the U18s' 12-4 victory against the Gamblers.
The 12-4 win on Mar. 15 marks the most recent game in which an NTDP player has scored seven points in a game (Cole Caufield, 6G 1A), six points in a game (Cole Caufield, 6G), and five points in a game (Jack Hughes, 5A).
