Mar. 8, 2019 | @ Lincoln Stars (SOL, 6-5)
Mar. 9, 2019 | @ Lincoln Stars (W, 9-3)
The U.S. National Under-18 Team split its two games against the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box.
Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) and Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) scored two goals apiece and Cam York (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) tallied one goal in the 6-5 shootout loss on Friday night. Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) stopped 22 of 27 shots in the loss.
Despite the loss, Hughes’ first goal represented his 181st career point as a member of the NTDP. Hughes trails only Clayton Keller's (NTDP 2014-16) program record of 189 points across a two-year span. Additionally, Caufield’s two-goal game marked the 98th and 99th goals of his NTDP career, which ranks second only to Phil Kessel’s (NTDP 2003-05) all-time record of 104.
Patrick Moynihan (Millis, Mass.) scored twice while Domenick Fensore (Thornwood, N.Y.), John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.), Alex Turcotte (Island Lake, Ill.), Hughes, Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.), Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.), and Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.) scored one goal each in the U18s 9-2 win against the Stars on Saturday night. Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) made 14 saves on 17 shots throughout the game.
