WISCONSIN CONNECTION: The University of Wisconsin has received 29 NTDP alumni, the fifth most sent to a college from the NTDP. Of the 29 sent to the Badgers, 14 have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including: Jake Dowell (NTDP 2001-03; UW 2003-07),  Nic Kerdiles (NTDP 2010-12; UW 2012-14),  Luke Kunin (NTDP 2013-15; UW 2015-17), Jake McCabe (NTDP 2009-11; UW 2011-14), Jamie McBain (NTDP 2004-06; UW 2006-09),  Jack Skille (NTDP 2003-05; UW 2005-07),  Ryan Suter (NTDP 2001-03; UW 2003-04), David Tanabe (NTDP 1997-98; UW 1998-99), and Brad Winchester (NTDP 1997-99; UW 1999-03).

Four NTDP alumni are on the 2018-19 Badgers roster: Sean  Dhooge (NTDP 2015-17), Ty Emberson (NTDP 2016-18), Tyler Inamoto (NTDP 2015-17), and K’Andre Miller (NTDP 2016-18).

In addition, six current NTDP players are committed to playing for the University of Wisconsin following their time with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program: Noah Grannan (Germantown, Wis.), Tanner Latsch (Twin Lake, Mich.), Daniel Laatsch (Altoona, Wis.), Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.), Alex Turcotte (Island Lake, Ill.), and Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.).

WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS: Team USA took home silver in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships, held Dec. 26 - Jan. 5 in Vancouver and Victoria, Canada. Current U18 players Spencer Knight  (Darien, Conn.) and Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) along with nine NTDP alumni were named to the U.S. National Junior Team. Team USA went on to win five of seven games over the course of the tournament.  Hughes tallied four assists.

ALL-STAR ROSTER: The NHL All-Star Game rosters includes seven NTDP alumni, and features Auston Matthews (NTDP 2013-15) as captain of the Atlantic Division roster. The six additional alumni are: Jack Eichel (2012-14), Jimmy Howard (2001-02), Seth Jones (2010-12), Patrick Kane (2004-06), Clayton Keller (2014-16), and John Gibson (2009-11).

Three additional NTDP alumni have been named to the Last Man In ballot and are vying for a spot on the All-Star Game roster: Dylan Larkin (NTDP 2012-14), Nick Foligno (2003-04), and Kyle Palmieri (2007-09).

THIRD STAR HONORS: NTDP alumni Scott Reedy (NTDP 2015-17) was named No. 3 Star of the Big Ten for his play in the previous week. Reedy earned his first hat trick of his NCAA career, and it stood as the only hat trick scored in the NCAA that weekend. NHL CALL-UP: Former NTDP goaltender Thatcher Demko (NTDP 2012-13) earned the call up to the Vancouver Canucks from his minor league team, the Utica Comets. Demko recorded an 8-5-1 (W-L-T) record for the Comets, as well as a 2.58 GAA and .911 save percentage throughout the AHL season. He holds a 55-35-12 record, .915 save percentage and 2.56 GAA all-time after nearly three seasons with Utica.
