The U17s opened the weekend of play against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Friday, Oct. 26th at USA Hockey Arena, and lost by a score of 7-2. Luke Tuch (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored his seventh goal of the season in the loss, taking the lead on the team. Jacob Truscott (Fort Gratiot, Mich.) tallied an assist on the goal. Ty Smilanic (Elizabeth Colo.) netted the second goal of the game off of assists from Jake Sanderson (Whitefish, Mont.) and Matthew Beniers (Hingham, Mass.). Netminder Drew Commesso (Norwell, Mass. ) recorded 31 saves in the loss.

The Dubuque Fighting Saints served the U17s its second loss of the weekend with a back and forth game at USA Hockey Arena on Saturday (Oct. 27), ending in a 6-3 loss. Brett Berard (E. Greenwich, R.I.) opened the scoring for the U17s in the second period, with assists from Beniers and Owen Gallatin (Hugo, Minn.). Beniers tallied his third point of the weekend with a goal from Smilanic and Gallatin to put the U17s within one goal. However, the Fighting Saints pulled away in the third period, despite a third U17s goal from Thomas Bordeleau (Houston, Texas), assisted by Tuch.

The U18s traveled to L.C. Walker Arena on Saturday (Oct. 27) for its first matchup of the weekend against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The U18s defeated the Lumberjacks, 8-3, ending Muskegon’s eight-game undefeated run. Six U18s tallied goals in the win, and Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) recorded his second hat trick of the season. The first period was a back and forth effort from both teams, as Henry Thrun (Southborough, Mass.) put the U18s on the board, with Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas) and John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.) tallying assists and Caufield scored his first goal of the game with Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) assisting to end the period with a 2-2 tie. The U18s pulled away in the second period as Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.), Caufield, and Zegras netted goals to take a 5-3 lead after two periods. Third-period goals from Beecher, Caufield, and Rolston sealed the 8-3 victory in Muskegon. Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) recorded 30 saves in the victory to remain unbeaten this season.
The U18s earned a second 8-3 victory the next day (Oct. 28) at USA Hockey Arena against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Seven U18s put up goals in Sunday’s win. McCarthy scored the only goal of the first period, with assists from Zegras and Boldy. The second period came with goals from Sean Farrell (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Hughes to give the U18s a 3-0 lead going into the third period. The third period featured eight goals total as Dubuque tallied three in an attempted comeback. Five goals from the U18s brought the game to the five-goal deficit, as Moynihan, Caufield, Boldy, Farrell, and Zegras scored in an explosive third period of play. Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) made 29 saves and played a full game in net.
