The U18s fell to Boston University, 5-4, in an overtime loss on Friday (Oct. 19) at Agganis Arena in Boston. Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.) opened the scoring with a first-period tally less than one minute into play. After the Terriers responded with a goal of their own, Team USA's Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.) put the U18s back in front with a power-play goal in the second period.

Alex Vlasic (Wilmette, Ill.) and Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.) netted quick goals halfway into the third period to erase a two-goal deficit in the third period and sent the game to overtime.

Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) saved 30 of 35 shots he faced, although Boston University ultimately won the game in the extra frame. Eight Team USA players recorded points in the loss, including Cam York (Anaheim Hills, Calif.), Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.), Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) and Ryder Rolston (Birmingham, Mich.) who tallied assists on the four U18 goals.

Team USA continued play against Harvard University on Saturday (Oct. 20) at Bright-Landry Hockey Center in Boston. The U18s earned a convincing 6-3 victory against the Crimson, and Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) made 25 saves to remain undefeated in NCAA play this season. Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.) struck first for the U18s in the opening frame before they found the back of the net four times in the second period. Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas) scored his first of the season off an assist from John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.), while Caulfield capitalized on assists from Beecher and Gildon. Patrick Moynihan (Millis, Mass.) netted the third of the game from Lindmark and York, and Caulfield recorded his second of the game to put the U18s ahead 5-1. Boldy netted the sixth goal for Team USA with an empty-net tally to close out the victory.

The U18s ended its three-game NCAA road trip with a 6-4 win against Dartmouth College on Monday (Oct. 22) in Hanover, New Hampshire. Zegras struck first for Team USA in the opening period and later tallied his second of the game in the second period.

Boldy netted his ninth goal of the season with assists from Vlasic and Thrun, and Rolston scored unassisted 36 seconds later to put the U18s ahead 4-2 late in the second frame. Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) scored the game-winner, marking his first goal against NCAA competition, to extend Team USA's lead to 5-2. Sean Farrell (Hopkinton, Mass.) sealed the victory with his first goal of the season off an assist from Lindmark.

Hughes tallied three assists in the win, earning his 14th, 15th and 16th points of the season. Knight and Rowe split the game in net and made a combined 28 saves against the Big Green.
