PETRIFYING THE PHANTOMS

The U17s will travel to Youngstown, Ohio to face the Youngstown Phantoms on Thursday, April 12. This will be the ninth and final meeting against Youngstown this season. Team USA leads the season series 5-3.

In their most recent game on March 31, the U17s fell 6-1 to the Phantoms. Marshall Warren (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.) scored the only goal in the defeat.

The Phantoms are 32-19-5-2 (W-L-OTL-SOL) in USHL play this season and are currently second in the Eastern Conference with 71 points. They are 7-1-1-1 in their last 10 games. The Phantoms have the eighth best goals against mark, only allowing 180 this season. AXING THE LUMBERJACKS: The U17s will host their final regular season game of the year Friday, April 13 at 7:05 p.m at USA Hockey Arena against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The season series against Muskegon is currently tied 3-3.

In their most recent game on March 4, the U17s lost to Muskegon, 5-4. Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.), Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.), and Marshall Warren (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.) posted two-point nights with Boldy and Zegras tallying a goal and an assist, and Warren adding two assists. Patrick Moynihan (Millis, Mass.) and Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas) also scored in the defeat.

The Lumberjacks are 32-24-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) in USHL play this season and are currently third in the Eastern Conference with 66 points. They are 6-4-0-0 in their last 10 games. The Lumberjacks have the fourth best offense in the USHL, scoring 194 goals so far this season. Muskegon holds the fifth best power play, scoring 22.2% of the time. LAST TIME OUT

The U.S. National Under-17 team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa where they swept their weekend series against the Fighting Saints. On Friday, April 6, the U17s defeated Dubuque in a shootout, 5-4. Ryder Rolston (Birmingham, Mich.), Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.), Danny Weight (Lattingtown, N.Y.), and John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.) all scored in the victory. Rolston also scored the lone goal in the shootout to give Team USA the win.

The following day, (April 7), the U17s again defeated the Fighting Saints, 5-4, this time in overtime. Owen Lindmark (Naperville, Ill.) and John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.) scored twice each in the victory with Beecher scoring the overtime game-winner just 32 seconds into the extra frame. Sean Farrell (Hopkinton, Mass.) also scored for the U17s.
