WEATHERING THE STORM: The U18s travel to face the Tri-City Storm for a weekend series on Saturday and Sunday. These are the only two meetings this season against the Storm. The Storm are 27-16-1-2 (W-L-OTL-SOL) in USHL play this season and are currently fifth in the Western Conference and sixth in the USHL. Their goaltender, Filip Larsson, is leading the league with a GAA of 1.65 and a SV% of .941.

Last season, the NTDP split its series with Tri-City with the U18s beating the Storm, 4-2, and the U17s falling to them, 4-3. Jake Pivonka (Naperville, Ill.), Bode Wilde (Birmingham, Mich.), and Jake Wise (Reading, Mass.) scored in the U17s’ loss.

LAST TIME OUT: The U.S. National Under-18 Team started the weekend with a win on Friday (Mar. 2) against the Green Bay Gamblers (W, 5-2). Jonathan Gruden (Rochester, Mich.) led Team USA to victory with two goals. Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.), Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.), and Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) also scored in the victory.

The following night (Saturday, Mar. 3), Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) scored twice on the way to a series sweep against the Gamblers (W, 4-1). Jake Wise (Reading, Mass.) and Tyler Weiss (Raleigh, N.C.) aided in the victory with a goal each.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team faced the league-leading Omaha Lancers on Saturday night (Mar. 3) at USA Hockey Arena and beat them in a convincing fashion (W, 7-2). Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.) and Danny Weight (Lattingtown, N.Y.) each scored twice in the victory. Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.), Alex Vlasic (Wilmette, Ill.), and John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y.) also scored. Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) saved 39 of 41 shots to ensure the U17s victory.

The following afternoon (Sunday, Mar. 4), the U17s fell to the Muskegon Lumberjacks (L, 5-4). Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.), Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.), Patrick Moynihan (Millis, Mass.), and Michael Gildon (Plano, Texas) all netted goals in the defeat.
