SWEDEN vs. RUSSIA

Sweden enters its matchup with Russia after winning its first game of the tournament on Friday, 4-1, over Czech Republic.

Team Sweden has lost both of its previous matches to USA and Finland by 5-1 and 5-3, respectively.

In their win over Czech Republic Friday, goals were scored by Jonatan Berggren, Nils Lundkvist, Linus Nassen and Samuel Fagemo. Goaltender Jesper Eliasson recorded 15 saves for the win.

Team Russia is coming off of its first loss of the tournament on Friday night to Team USA, 5-4. Previously they had a 4-0 shutout of Finland and 9-2 decision over Czech Republic.

The most recent goal-scorers for Russia include Ivan Morozov, Grigory Denisenko, Andrei Svechnikov (who is leading skaters in the tournament with eight points) and Danila Galenuk.

USA VS FINLAND

The 2018 Under-18 Five Nations tournament wraps up with a game between the United States and Finland.

When the two teams met during the Fall 2017 Under-18 Five Nations Tournament, Finland defeated Team USA, 4-3, in a shootout. Mattias Samuelsson (Voorhees, N.J.) scored twice and Joel Farabee (Cicero, N.Y.)  scored once in the defeat for Team USA. Arttu Nevasaari scored twice, Kim Nousiainen scored once, and Mikko Kokkonen scored the shootout winning goal for Finland.

Finland is 2-1-0 heading into their final game. In their last game against Sweden, Finland won 5-3 with two goals a piece from Arttu Nevasaari and Jesperi Kotkaniemi and a goal from Niklas Nordgren.

In last night’s game against Russia, Team USA won, 5-4, in a comeback victory giving them a record of 2-1-0. Team USA, Russia, and Finland are all tied with 6 points going into the final day of play.
