Matt Gilroy returns to the NTDP staff for the 2023-24 campaign for his second season. Previously, Gilroy spent the 2020-22 seasons as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings AAA youth hockey program, coaching at the 12U and 14U age levels. Additionally, he has spent the last three years as a head coach at RAD HOCKEY, a premiere off-season development program for elite players in the western part of the country.

Gilroy’s playing career spanned 10 seasons, including 225 games played in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers. He finished his career with five seasons in Europe, competing in Russia, Finland and Switzerland.

On the international stage, Gilroy served as an alternate captain for the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team and also played for Team USA in the 2010 IIHF Men's World Championship.

Gilroy played collegiately at Boston University for four seasons (2005-09), where he was named All-American after his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. His amateur career culminated as just the sixth defenseman to win the Hobey Baker Award in 2009, as well as helping lead the Terriers to the 2009 national championship.

Former NTDP player (2002-04) Chad Kolarik will be part of the U.S. National Under-17 Staff for the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach, his second on the bench with the NTDP.

Kolarik spent the 2022-23 campaign as an assistant coach for the U.S. National Under-18 team, helping Team USA to a gold medal at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship. Additionally, the Abington, Pennsylvania, native served on staff for the 2022 Under-18 Five Nations Championship, where he helped the team to a first-place finish.

Prior to joining USA Hockey, he began his coaching career with the USHL’s Waterloo Black Hawks as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 campaign.

Kolarik played 12 seasons of professional hockey in the U.S. and Europe. He suited up for the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers at the game’s highest level, in addition to stops in the AHL, and finished his career with seven seasons in Europe throughout Sweden, France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria. He skated collegiately at the University of Michigan, where he produced 174 points (78g-96a) in 163 games for the Wolverines.

Kolarik has extensive international experience representing the United States, most recently as a member of the 2018 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team that competed in PyeongChang, South Korea. In addition, Kolarik skated in two Deutschland Cups as a member of the U.S. Men's Select Team, helping Team USA earn a first-place finish in 2013, and was a member of the 2004 U.S. Under-18 Men’s World Championship team, helping the U.S. win a silver medal.

The 2023-24 season be Bourque’s first year as an assistant coach for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program.

Bourque, an NTDP alum (2007-09), comes to USA Hockey after two seasons as an assistant coach for the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, where he helped lead the team to a South Division championship in 2022-23.

Bourque played nine seasons of professional hockey from 2011-2020. The Topsfield, Mass., native skated in 585 American Hockey League games with the Connecticut Whale, Hartford Wolf Pack, Hershey Bears and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Bourque reached the game's top level in the 2014-15 season with the New York Rangers.

In his time on Team USA at the NTDP, he tallied 61 points (22g-39a) in 77 games. Additionally, Bourque brought home four medals for the United States, including golds at the 2009 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship and 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The 2023-24 season will be Ryan Hayes' first as an assistant coach with the NTDP. An NTDP alum (2005-07), Hayes will be on the bench with the U.S. National Under-17 Team.

Hayes joins USA Hockey after spending the last 13 years playing professionally, including five seasons (2010-15) across the ECHL and eight campaigns (2015-23) in Europe, mostly in Switerland’s top league before finishing his career last year in Austria.

Hayes competed in two IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championships, helping Team USA to gold (2006) and silver (2007) medals.

David Lassonde, with more than 30 years of hockey coaching experience, was named national goaltending coach for USA Hockey prior to the start of the 2020-21 season. Lassonde, entering his fourth season with the NTDP, supports USA Hockey’s international teams as well its National Team Development Program and is also involved in the organization’s overall goaltending development efforts.

Over his 32-year NCAA Division I men's hockey coaching career that has included stops at the Dartmouth College, University of Denver, University of New Hampshire, Miami University, and University of Wisconsin, Lassonde's resume includes 20 trips to the NCAA Tournament with five appearances in the Frozen Four, three conference tournament titles and six regular-season championships. Lassonde played collegiately for two seasons (1981-83) as a goaltender for Providence College. He has coached numerous All-American goaltenders over that time, including the likes of Ty Conklin, Mike Ayers, Sam Brittain and Kevin Regan.

On the international stage, Lassonde has served as an assistant coach for USA Hockey 12 times, including on the staff at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship where the U.S. brought home the gold medal. The Durham, New Hampshire, native was also on staff with Team USA at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Additionally, he helped the U.S. win the gold medal at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship and a silver medal at the 2019 event. Lassonde has served as assistant coach for the U.S. at the 2021 and 2022 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championships, including the silver-medal winning squad in 2022. In addition, he helped lead the U.S. Under-17 Men's Select Team to the championship of the 2015 Five Nations Cup, and the U.S. Under-18 Men's Select Team to a second-place finish at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. Lassonde also worked with Team USA at the World Deaf Ice Hockey Championships, winning a gold medal in 2017.

Lassonde has served as a mentor at USA Hockey Player Development Camps since 1990, and has worked as an instructor for USA Hockey’s Warren Strelow National Goalie Program since 2007.
