BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY: The U18s host NCAA Division I opponent Bowling Green State University to wrap the home set of the 2024-25 Kroger College Series. This will be the U18s 15th NCAA opponent this season and eighth overall meeting against BGSU, with Team USA holding a slight 4-3-0 (W-L-T) series edge.
Bowling Green enters the weekend with a 15-10-4 record, coming off a split against St. Thomas, earning a 4-1 win Friday (Feb. 7) before falling 2-1 Saturday (Feb. 8). The Falcons, who stand third in the CCHA, own an 8-6-1 record on the road.
Offensively, senior forward Ryan O'Hara leads the charge for BGSU with 27 points (10G-17A) over 29 games, good for fifth overall in the CCHA, and his 17 assists also rank first amongst Falcon skaters. Sophomore forward Brody Waters has 19 points to his name, and leads the team in goals with 14, to land him second amongst all CCHA skaters. Ben Doran (6G-9A) and Brett Pfoh (5G-10A) round out the scoring leaders for the Falcons.
Defensively, junior Dalton Norris, brother of NTDP alum Josh Norris (2015-17), tracks the path for Bowling Green, as his 14 points lead blueliners and his 12 assists fall second on the team. Sophomore Gustav Stjernberg runs just behind with 12 (3G-9A) points, while Breck McKinley and Eric Parker each have seven apiece.
Sophomore goaltender Cole Moore has the slight edge in minutes over senior Christian Stoever, seeing 16 of BGSU's 29 starts, but Stoever tops the statistical categories, owning a 9-1-3 (W-L-T) record, .948 SV% and 1.70 GAA. Moore, comparatively, has posted a 6-9-1 (W-L-T) record with a .907 SV% and 2.84 GAA.
MUSKEGON LUMBERJACKS: The U17s wrap the weekend Saturday evening against conference foe Muskegon, the sixth and final meeting between the two squads this season. The U17s are still looking for their first win over the 'Jacks, having most recently dropped a pair in late January.
Muskegon, who enters the weekend standing second in the East with 57 points, owns a 25-11-3-4 record after dishing two losses to the Tri-City Storm last weekend, with a 5-2 final on Friday (Feb. 7) and a 6-5 final the following night.
Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev, who has been a standout between the pipes forMuskegon, owns a 13-6-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record with a .917 SV% to lead the USHL and a 2.52 GAA, good for third in the league. Stephen Peck has been a very solid backup, with a 12-5-2-3 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record and .904 SV% and 2.64 GAA.
Offensively, five skaters have hit the 30-point mark, with center David Deputy (14G-25A), a midseason acquisition from Omaha, setting the pace at 39 in 42 games. Tynan Lawrence, who's 16 goals lead USHL rookies, has 36 points, while Jack Galanek (17G-18A), David Klee (14G-17A) and Vaclav Nestrasil (12G-18A) round out the heavy hitters.
Xavier Veilleux tops Muskegon's blueliners with 26 points, and his 21 assists rank fifth amongst defenders league-wide. Danny Klaers, Cameron Aucoin and Luka Radivojevic have also hit the double-digit mark.
