JJ JERSEY: USA Hockey's National Team Development Program unveiled their 2024-25 third jersey this week, which honors the late Jim Johannson and will be worn in select games this season, beginning Friday night.
The sweaters are based off those worn at the 2018 Stars & Stripes Showdown at USA Hockey Arena, in honor of Johannson, which benefited the Jim Johannson Legacy Fund of The USA Hockey Foundation and the Ellie Johannson College Fund. The NTDP crest, which was originally designed by Johannson, sits front and center on the white sweaters.
The exclusive game-worn threads will be auctioned off at the end of the season, with all proceeds going towards naming the NHL sheet at USA Hockey Arena in honor of Johannson.
BACK-TO-BACK: Teddy Stiga (2022-24/Boston College) scored 8:04 into three-on-three overtime as the U.S. National Junior Team erased a two-goal deficit and earned a 4-3 victory over Finland in the gold-medal game of the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship on Sunday night. It marked the first time in history that the U.S. has won back-to-back World Junior gold medals.
The U.S. roster featured 17 alums of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. Amongst them were Ryan Leonard (2021-23/Boston College), who finished the tournament with 10 points (5g, 5a) and was named tournament MVP. Leonard, Cole Hutson (2022-24/Boston University) and Gabe Perreault (2021-23/Boston College) were named to the Media All-Star Team while Leonard earned the Directorate Award as the Best Forward in the Tournament.
Goaltender Trey Augustine (2021-23/Michigan State University) finished the gold-medal game with 21 saves to pick up his 12th career win in the World Juniors, top all-time among American netminders.
