It took 60 minutes of play, an overtime period, and two rounds of a shootout to determine a winner during Friday’s match between the U.S. National Under-18 Team and the Sioux City Musketeers.

Ultimately, the U18s fell after two rounds of the shootout, 5-4. The U18s are now 16-11-1-2-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL-T) on the season.

Erik Middendorf (Scottsdale, Ariz.) put the U18s on the board first 7:27 into the first period. Spencer Stastney (Mequon, Wis.) sent a pass down the ice, where Middendorf corralled the puck and found the net after cleaning up a rebound from his first shot.

The Musketeers knotted up the score at the 14:56 mark, when forward Dylan Mills scored off a rebound shot from Bauer Neudecker to end the first period 1-1.
