Rolston Nets Two in U17s, 4-1 Win Against Youngstown

The U.S. National Under-17 Team defeated the Youngstown Phantoms, 4-1 tonight behind two goals from Ryder Rolston (Birmingham, Mich.)

After a scoreless first period, Rolston found the back of the net at 3:20 of the second. He put the puck in after Phantoms’ goaltender Ivan Prosvetov gave up a rebound on a shot from Marshall Warren (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.). Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.) also added an assist on the goal.

Skater Leaders

Judd Caulfield (Grand Forks, N.D.) netted one from the high slot at the :48 mark of the third period. Sean Farrell (Hopkinton, Mass.) and John Beecher (Elmira, N.Y) added assists on the goal.

Matthew Boldy (Millis, Mass.) sent the puck over the glove of Prosvetov from the left circle at 6:21 of the third period. Zegras picked up his second assist of the game while Alex Vlasic (Wilmette, Ill.) picked up his first.

Rolston netted his second of the game at 13:22 of the third period to extend the U17s lead, 4-0. He pushed in the rebound from Vlasic’s shot from the point.

Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) made 31 saves in the win while Youngstown’s Prosvetov made 23.

The U17s are back in action Friday (Jan.5) at Des Moines to take on the Buccaneers at 7 pm CST.
