U18s Fall to Bowling Green, 4-1

 The U.S. National Under-18 Team fell in NCAA action Friday night at Bowling Green State University, 4-1 to the Falcons.

Despite solid chances from both teams, the first period ended scoreless.

Bowling Green took advantage of its power plays in the second capitalizing on two.

The Falcons scored its first goal at 14:59 of the middle frame after Brandon Kruse sent the puck in from the left circle.

Less than two minutes later at 16:57 the Falcons put the puck in that back of the net again on the power play.

BGSU scored its third power play goal at 1:23 of the third period to extend the Falcons lead, 3-0.

Jake Pivonka (Naperville, Ill.) got the U18s on the board, also on the power play, at 2:24 of the final frame. He sent the puck past Falcons goaltender, Ryan Bednard from the right circle with help from Adam Samuelsson (San Diego, Calif.) and Bode Widle (Birmingham, Mich.)

Bowling Green’s  Frederic Letourneau added his second goal of the game at 11:53 of the third period to seal the game 4-1.

U18 goaltender Drew DeRidder (Fenton, Mich.) tallied 29 saves.

The U18s open its home season next Friday, Oct. 13 when Miami University comes to USA Hockey Arena. Tickets are still available at USAHockeyNTDP.com/Tix.
