NTDP Announces 2017-18 Schedule

2017-18 Schedule Released; Season Ticket Packages Now Available

USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program has announced its full 2017-18 schedule for both its Under-17 and Under-18 teams.

Season ticket packages are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting USAHockeyNTDP.com/SeasonTix or by calling the USA Hockey Arena box office at 734-453-8400.

Individual game tickets will be available for purchase on Monday, August 21.

Below are some of the highlights of both schedules.

GETTING STARTED

The Under-18 Team will open the season, with the rest of the USHL teams, at the USHL Fall Classic in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

The Under-17 team will start with USHL action on Oct. 7 when it heads to Chicago before hosting the Green Bay Gamblers on Oct. 21-22 and the Cedar Rapids Roughriders on Oct. 28. 

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

To start the month of November, both the U18s and U17s will be traveling for international tournaments. The Under-18 Team will travel to Finland for the Under-18 Five Nations Tournament, while the Under-17 Team will travel to Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, B.C., Canada to play in the World Under-17 Challenge.

The U17s will then travel to Russia to play in the Under-17 Four Nations Tournament on Dec. 11-17.

Then again in February, both teams will play in its respective Five Nations Tournaments. The Under-17 Team will travel to Finland this time and the Under-18 Team will stay at USA Hockey Arena, in Plymouth, Michigan to host the tournament for the third consecutive season.

IN-STATE NCAA MATCHUPS

The Under-18 Team will host Michigan State University in early December. The Spartans pay a visit to USA Hockey Arena on Dec. 16.

Ferris State University will be the first game of the New Year when they come to town on Jan. 2.

FULL COLLEGE SLATE

The U18s will also host a few out-of-state NCAA teams over the course of the year including Miami University (Ohio) on Oct. 13 and and Utica College Jan. 7. 

Team USA will also host Adrian College on Nov. 22.

Other notable road matchups for the U18s will be Boston University, the University of North Dakota, the University of Notre Dame, Lake Superior State University and Harvard University.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The U18s play a total of 14 NCAA teams in the 2017-18 season, five of which are home games.
  • The U18s will play 11 Division-I teams and three Division-III teams.
  • The U17 Team plays in three international tournaments, as do the U18s; one of which, the U18s Five Nations Tournament will be hosted at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
  • The U17s longest home stand spans three games, which happens twice, Oct. 21-28 and Jan. 15-26. The U18s longest home stand is five games from March 15-30.
  • The U17s longest span on the road is nine games from March 16-April 12 while the Under-18s longest road game span is six games from Jan. 19-Feb. 3.

CLOSING IT OUT

The U18s close its regular season on March 30 against Youngstown before traveling to the Under-18 World Championship in Magnitogorsk, Russia.

The Under-17 Team travels to Youngstown on April 12 before turning around to host Muskegon Lumberjacks on April 13 to close out its 2017-18 season.

ABOUT THE NTDP: USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program enters its 21st season of competition and is based at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. The goal of this full-time development program is to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice.
