On Tuesday, USA Hockey announced the 42 players who have been invited to take part in the 2017 World Junior Summer Showcase that will be held at USA Hockey Arena July 29, 2017 – Aug. 5, 2017. Of those 42 players, one is a current member of the National Team Development Program, 12 were members of the 2016-17 Under-18 Team, and 12 are former NTDP players.
Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) is the most recent NTDP goalie to be invited to the event, as he played with the U18s in 2016-17. Both Jake Oettinger (2014-16/Lakeville, Minn.) of Boston University, and Joseph Woll (2014-16/St. Louis, Mo.) of Boston College, are NTDP alumni goalies invited as well.
Max Gildon (Plano, TX.), Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.), Tyler Inamoto (Barrington, Ill.), Phil Kemp (Greenwich, Conn.) and Nate Knoepke (Farmington, Minn.) are the five 2016-17 U18 NTDP defensemen invited to the showcase. Four of these players are eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft, while Hughes will be available to be selected in the 2018 NHL Draft.
Four more of the 13 defensemen invited to the showcase are NTDP alumni. These include Adam Fox (2014-16/Jericho, N.Y.) of Harvard University, Chad Krys (2014-16/Ridgefield, Conn.) of Boston University, Ryan Lindgren (2014-16/Minneapolis, Minn.) of the University of Minnesota, and Luke Martin (2014-16/St. Louis, Mo.) of the University of Michigan.
On the offensive side, seven 2016-17 U18 NTDP forwards will be participating in the August camp at USA Hockey Arena. These seven are made up of Evan Barratt (Bristol, Penn.), Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.), Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.), Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.), Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.), Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) and Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.).
Six additional NTDP alumni will be competing for a chance to make the 2018 U.S. National Junior Team, including Joey Anderson (2014-16/Roseville, Minn.) of the University of Minnesota Duluth, Kieffer Bellows (2015-16/Edina, Minn.) of Boston University, Trent Frederic (2014-16/St. Louis, Mo.) of the University of Wisconsin, Max Jones (2014-15/Rochester, Mich.), Patrick Khodorenko (2014-16/Walnut Creek, Calif.) of Michigan State University and Will Lockwood (2014-16/Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) of the University of Michigan.

The showcase will feature teams from four nations including the U.S., Finland, Canada and Sweden. Each of the players will be competing for a spot to represent their country in the 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship. The event will take place Dec. 26, 2017 – Jan. 5, 2018 in Buffalo, N.Y.
