Under-17 Team Overtaken by Sioux City, 8-1

The U.S. National Under-17 Team was defeated by the Sioux City Musketeers, 8-1, here tonight at the Tyson Events Center in the second half of a two-game series.

The Musketeers took a 3-0 lead in the first period, including a marker from Charlie Kelleher and a pair of goals from Eeli Tolvanen.

Just :56 into the second frame, Patrick Giles (Chevy Chase, Md.) scored the lone goal for Team USA. Blade Jenkins (Jackson, Mich.) and Jake Pivonka (Woodridge, Ill.) picked up helpers on the play.

Odeen Tufto scored during a U.S. penalty kill before Brian Rigali added another 1:19 later for Sioux City. Carson Vance converted to send the game into the final period with the Under-17 Team trailing 6-1.

Kelleher and Tufto each added their second goals of the night in the third frame for the 8-1 final.
