Scott Reedy (Prior Lake, Minn.) scored a hat trick and the U.S. National Under-18 Team outshot Arizona State University, 37-28, but ultimately fell 6-3 here tonight at USA Hockey Arena.

Arizona State jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 2:58 remaining in the first when Jack Rowe scored on a partial breakaway.

Reedy evened the score just 1:05 later by finishing a rebound after a tic-tac-toe passing play during a Team USA power play. Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) and Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) added assists on the goal.

With 4:06 on the clock in the second period, Tyler Busch sniped a shot from the top of the left circle to give the Sun Devils a 2-1 advantage. Another tally with :36 to play put the U18s at a 3-1 deficit.

The U.S. killed off two overlapping penalties at the beginning of the third, but Ryan Belonger found the back of the net at 6:18. Liam McGing extended Arizona State's lead to 5-1.

At 13:15, Joel Farabee (Cicero, N.Y.) collected the puck in the neutral zone and found a streaking Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.), who carried the puck along the right side and slid it to Reedy for the one-timer.

About a minute later, Norris buried a loose puck but the referee determined he was in the crease and the play was ruled no-goal. Reedy completed his hat trick during a Team USA six-on-three when he connected with Hughes and picked the top right corner to make it 5-3.

The Sun Devils buried an empty-netter with 1:12 on the clock to account for the 6-3 final.

Goaltender Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) made 22 stops for Team USA, while Robert Levin turned away 34 for the Sun Devils.
